Tegan's Story

Hi, I'm Tegan Vincent-Cooke. I'm 13 years of age and I have Cerebral Palsy, to the 'able-bodied world' I'm DISABLED! But I dont like the word disabled because it reminds me of when your phone is disabled and it 's USELESS. So I like to say DIF-abled, which stands for DIFferently-abled. Because I'm not USELESS!!! So by telling my story in a fun way i hope that it wuld: 

Change attitudes towards the DIFferently-abled!

 

To make others more aware!

 

To help people to understand me, difability! 

 

For all of my short life I have struggled with people's reaction to my differences. Rather than just getting used to it I have decided to do something about it to help people to understand life from my perspective.

 

When I get up in the morning the one thing that's guaranteed in my day is 'Being  Stared At' my mum says its people's nature, sometimes its curiosity, maybe my good looks, but at times it's just ignorance. I get it - it's the ignorance I want to have your support change!
